RESPECT – The Aretha Franklin Songbook is a spectacular show that pays tribute to the Queen of Soul with an uplifting sermon celebrating her life and greatest hits including Think, I Say A Little Prayer, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Natural Woman, Son Of A Preacher Man, Respect and many more!
The 2-hour concert was produced by Adrian Grant (creator of Thriller Live), directed by Tiffany King and Racky Plews, with Musical Direction by Stephen Hussey.
The Theatre Artists Fund has been set up to provide emergency support for theatre workers and freelancers across the UK. It is for theatre professionals who are in need of urgent and critical financial
support due to the devastating impact of Covid-19 on the theatre sector. Their ambition for the fund is to provide short-term relief to hundreds for theatre workers and freelancers across the UK, and
particularly those from underrepresented groups disproportionately affected by the crisis.
Producer, Adrian Grant, said:
“The Arts & Entertainment industries have been particularly hit hard by the impact of Covid-19, as the shows we produce rely totally on live audiences. For many productions social distancing either isn’t
viable onstage or off it, with large costs, that most often require 50-60% sales just to break-even.
The Aretha Franklin show I produced last year was a great celebration of her life and music, which brought together 1000’s of her fans as we toured the UK. It also provided work for a large cast and production team including singers, musicians, directors, sound and lighting engineers and other crew members who like myself are now all suffering with most venues shut, festivals cancelled and no clear end in sight of when we may be able to return to live shows with full audiences.
The Theatre Artists Fund is a fantastic initiative set up by Sam Mendes, and I’m happy that we can help support their efforts via the streaming of ‘Respect – The Aretha Franklin Songbook’ online.”
