Spreading the Zen on Kickstarter

Ljubljana, Slovenia – A new wooden product from Slovenia launched on Kickstarter. The Designer,

Gašper Premoze, originally crafted a wooden egg as a reminder to reconnect with himself. Aiming
for $2200, Gašper is starting to see that his message of mindfulness is becoming well received
across the globe.

The Message

Gašper found himself focusing on work for very long periods on a daily basis. Mixed with the overwhelming amount of distraction from the information age, he realised that mindfulness was truly something that he had to create time for.In moments of stress I found myself stuck in screens, totally ignoring the fact that my mind wasn’t at its best. After struggling with the repercussions of this, I devoted my time into creating a manifested message – ZenEgg Gašper hopes to share his realisation globally through Kickstarter, a platform that he feels reaches individuals more directly. Within the first 30 hours, more than half the goal has been raised!

The Egg.

The shape itself was chosen based on it’s familiarity and simple nature.
We are tactile creatures; it’s common for us to have something in our hands. I started to realise
that every object that we hold is associated with some activity that we automatically start to do. It’s
for this reason that I wanted to develop an object for taking time out.
Constructed with a weighted base, the ZenEgg always restores its position after being nudged,
moving playfully like a pendulum.

Each ZenEgg is crafted by hand using local hard words, (Walnut, Maple, and Pear) giving a unique
finish to each totem. For use as a substitute to the stress ball, as a massage object, or desk toy, it can definitely be said that there is an elegance in the shapes simplicity. It comes from Slovenia, a country with over half its territory covered in forest, holds a long-standing tradition of woodcraft. The industry is seeing some new business with the innovation of kickstarter, as shown by the success of many slovenian crowdfunding campaigns, including ONDU, the wooden pinhole camera. ZenEgg is one of a few projects launching from Slovenia this winter that uses these locally
sourced woods.

The man behind the Egg

Gašper Premože is a designer who values honesty, humour, and empathy. He’s been succeeding as a
freelancer for years, having worked on over 50 industrial design projects since studying at the
Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. Some of his current activities involve being a member of the
design group Rompom, as well as being a co-founder of the design community PopUp Dom.
Needless to say, he’s always had an active role in his field, fearlessly experimenting with different
types of projects.

This is his first time putting his work on Kickstarter.
The ZenEgg campaign will be running live until January 13, 2015.
